1. Service description

LvWinSys provides remote access to environmental sensor data (solar irradiance, weather, GPS) collected by sensor towers owned and operated by LvWinSys or its partners. By subscribing to a rental plan, you receive read-only access to a designated number of sensor towers for the duration of your subscription.

2. Data usage

Sensor data accessed under a rental plan is provided "as is" for your research, monitoring, or commercial use. You may export data in formats provided by the platform (CSV, XLSX). Re-distribution of raw data to third parties is permitted for non-commercial use; commercial re-sale requires a separate licence — contact us.

3. Data redistribution

Sensor data accessed under any plan — live, free Excel exports, paid historical archives — is licensed for your personal, research, or internal business use only. You may not:

• redistribute, resell, or publish the raw data;
• share downloaded files with people outside your organisation without prior written permission;
• use the data to train or fine-tune machine-learning models that you intend to distribute or commercialise;
• remove or alter the “Licensed to” block embedded in exported files (see clause 4).

Aggregated, derived, or statistically-summarised insights (e.g. “our region's average irradiance was X”) may be redistributed without permission, provided no individual reading or device identifier is exposed.

Breach of this clause is grounds for immediate account suspension and may give rise to civil claims for damages.

4. Exported file watermarking

Every downloaded Excel file carries a “Licensed to” block in the Summary sheet showing the downloading user's email, internal user ID, and the timestamp of download. This is for traceability if a file is later found redistributed in violation of clause 3. Removing or altering this block does not invalidate the licence terms — it is itself a breach.

The Summary sheet is also sheet-protected so the licence block cannot be edited in Excel without an admin-recoverable password. Optionally, you may supply your own password at download time to lock every sheet for read-only access — useful if you intend to forward the file over an untrusted channel (e.g. email). Sheet protection prevents editing in Excel; full file-open encryption is on the roadmap.

5. Historical data & pricing

Free Excel exports under any active subscription (Reader, Starter, Team, Enterprise) cover every reading the node has produced from your account creation date forward. Data recorded by the node before your account existed — e.g. if a node has been live for six months and you sign up today — is not included in the free export.

To download pre-account-creation readings, use the “Buy historical archive” option. Pricing is per-day per-tower; downtime days (when the node was offline and produced no readings) are automatically excluded from the bill. Days that fall on or after your account creation date are also subtracted — you only pay for data the free export doesn't already cover.

Files downloaded via free export or paid archive are yours forever; cancelling a subscription does not revoke any file you have already saved to your computer.

6. No service guarantee

Sensor towers may go offline due to power loss, network outages, hardware failure, or scheduled maintenance. We target 95% uptime but make no formal guarantee. Refunds for outages are at our discretion.

7. Billing

Subscriptions auto-renew at the cadence shown on the pricing page (monthly or annual). You may cancel at any time from the billing portal; access remains active until the end of the current billing period. Refunds for partial periods are not offered.

8. Acceptable use

You will not attempt to access devices or data outside the scope of your rental plan, attempt to compromise the platform or its hardware, or use sensor data in ways that violate local law. We reserve the right to suspend accounts found in breach of this clause.

9. Privacy

We store your email, payment-provider customer ID, and a record of your rentals and data exports. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties except as required to process payments (via Stripe) or comply with applicable law.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version date at the top of this page reflects the current version. We will require you to re-accept material updates the next time you place a paid order.
